Theater, film, TV actress!

Vikrum Mathur has been acting on stage since the tender age of three. He has acted in numerous supporting and leading roles in school and community plays, most notably in Natya Bharati's 2004 production of "Na Idhar Ke Na Udhar Ke" and 2005 production of "Bade Bhaisaab". He also played a supporting role in an independent film entitled "Takoma Park", which was screened at the Tribeca Film Festival 2008 in New York City and in the Washington DC Independent Film Festival in 2009. Additionally, he played a supporting role in the 2009 Kennedy Center presentation of the play "Jisne Lahore Nahin Dekha". He particularly cherishes working under the direction of Sandhya Gokhale and Amol Palekar in the dramatic play "Khidkiyan" in 2011. Recently, Vikrum acted in two short films (RECUPERATION and THE DON) and completed a television pilot titled SHERLOCK SAI starring Pooja Batra.

Passion for Hindi literature gave way to watching Tagore & Munshi Premchand’s work on stage back home. Being raised in an environment where singing and dancing were modes of expression for joy, happiness, celebration and devotion. This exposure to performing art at young age made me admire the courage, initiative and talent of performers. Software engineer by profession and painter by hobby, I enjoy being part of a performing art community. I see theater as a perfect mix of science and art. Natya Bharti here in DC area is doing phenomenal job in nurturing and bringing artists, story writers and producers together to stage high quality theater. Association with Natya Bharti keeps me connected with word of literature and theater.
